“We are ‘Singing for Fun’, a Crowborough based ladies’ choir. Under the guidance of our Musical Director, Mark Beesley, we sing a wide variety of music, anything from Bizet to Bernstein, Lloyd Webber to Vaughan Williams together with a little Fauré or Tchaikovsky and of course Karl Jenkins and John Rutter, in fact, music to suit all tastes. A bit of jazz, a bit of pop, a bit of classical and the occasional piece of opera, what more could a singer ask for! Some songs are sung a capella while others are accompanied by our pianist, Virginia Winton.
We sing in two, three or four parts with a solo now and then for those brave enough! We hold two concerts each year in aid of charity. The Summer Picnic Concert in July is held, not in the open air because of the unpredictable English weather but in All Saints Church. In December there is the Christmas concert, also held in All Saints.
Sometimes we are asked to sing at other events, such as weddings and funerals and have even sung at a hen party!
It’s not all work! We have a social get together at the beginning of the Summer break. Last year’s theme was “The Women’s Suffrage Movement” There was a prize for the best outfit, lots to eat, a well stocked bar and a karaoke!
Why don’t you join us? We are a friendly bunch who will make you very welcome. We don’t hold auditions and the ability to read music is not a requirement as the husband of one of our members painstakingly puts all the parts of all our songs on our website so you just download and listen – simples!
We meet on Monday evenings in All Saints Church from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
