Traditionally the Chamber of Commerce’s piece for the Crowborough Magazine at this time of year looks back over the previous twelve months and reviews the many events that they have been involved in. Of course 2020 has been somewhat different.
In early March, the Chamber was looking forward to its annual Business Expo and numerous networking events and meetings that were to come throughout the year. We had changed from shaking hands to bumping elbows but none of us could foresee what the year would have in store for all of us.
There is no denying that it has been a tough year for business, in some cases too tough. Sadly, some of our Wealden businesses have not survived the huge strain that lockdowns and restrictions have had on them and it is terribly sad to see some no longer here. Others have been able to weather the storm and are looking forward to a better 2021. At the other end of the scale we have even seen new businesses launching out of all this.
As we move into the New Year there is light at the end of the tunnel, there are high hopes that by spring life may be more like normal. After a tough year businesses will be looking to rebuild and move forward into a better and prosperous time. In order to do this they need the help of the general public which is why we’d like to remind you to:
Throughout 2021, The Crowborough & District Chamber of Commerce will continue to promote the commercial and general interests of businesses in Crowborough, making representation to local government, statutory bodies and consultative panels and providing networking and growth opportunities to business.
If you are a local business, charity, organisation or group and would be interested in joining the Chamber then please visit our website for details regarding membership.
